A winter engagement session at Hartman Creek State Park.
A chilly dreary day didn’t bother these two when we were at Hartman Creek on Saturday. This time of year I tend to feel a little guilty during sessions. I get to leave my stocking hat on the whole time while my couples are toughing it out in the cold, but they were awesome.
I found a new spot at Hartman so that was exciting! Jenna totally gave me hair envy when she showed up with her new color. How gorgeous is it! The dimension is real by the way!
Let’s talk a second about guys and their hats. I know there are plenty of photographers who feel like it’s not okay for guys to wear hats in their photos, maybe plenty of people in general. But here’s the thing – I ain’t that fancy. For lighting reasons and having properly exposed faces and eyes, no I don’t want guys to have hats on all the time. But definitely at the end of a shoot (when it’s not going to leave hat lines for the rest of it) if a guy always wears a hat, why wouldn’t he have it on for a few? For at least a couple shots, let those guys wear their hats!
We wrapped this session up before anyone completely froze. It wasn’t super cold but it was damp and the chill was setting in. Turns out our time together wasn’t quite over though. I headed to my waitress job and got to wait on them when they came out for dinner!
