Matthew and Madelyn married in Amherst, WI. Reception at the Fremont River Deck, Fremont, WI
Matthew and Madelyn were married on a beautiful, sunny and hot hot hot July day. Every little detail had a summery, flowery sweetness to it. The styles of the dresses were all different with the same flowy fits. Madelyn’s dress had a lovely lace overlay with floral elements. The guys all had ties with a floral pattern. The bouquets the girls carried were even hand picked by them that morning, right out of Grandma and Grandpa’s garden. It was set to be a blooming good day!
I met all the girls at the church and Madelyn got to finally put on that wedding dress which fit her perfectly! Her mom Hollie had such a great smile on her face as she zipped the dress and clasped the necklace. Madelyn’s bridesmaids were all ready to fuss over her and make everything perfect. They fumbled with all those little buttons, they buckled the shoes (which were her something blue) and they perfected the flowers in her hair. In no time Madelyn was ready to walk up the stairs and see … her daddy. Ready to give her away, Bryan got one more little moment where she was still his.
Let the fun begin!
Then the girls all packed up and went to find the boys. Side note here – all the benefits of a first look were in place here. Matthew and Madelyn have been together for a long time. They really are each other’s best friend. Why would they want to spend the last hour before their vows with anyone else? When Madelyn said it was time for Matthew to turn around, his reaction was the BEST! He could not stop saying how pretty she was and spinning her around. He even commented on the flowers in her hair.
We got the bridal party portraits done right away. The wind wanted to fight us a little bit but that just adds a little life to photos I say. And I did have the whole group face the sun at one point; but there was a wheat field and it’s July and those two things together make feel obligated to get that shot! The boys got to bring out the shotguns so they were happy! Then we shooed the bridal party off to the church. Matthew and Madelyn were giddy and laughing during their bridal portraits and man, I could have shot there all day. But we had a wedding to get to!
Time to say, “I do!”
Thankfully the ceremony was in the air conditioned church they’ve both grown up in. St. Paul’s Lutheran in Amherst is your classic small town church with gorgeous stained glass windows and solid wood pews. Lots of brides hang flower decorations on the end of pews. Madelyn however, hung little crocheted bells that her parents had at their wedding! The sweetness, just ❤️❤️❤️. It was a traditional ceremony with personal vows included. They both talked mentioned her always having the heat on in the vehicle and laughed about that mulitple times through the night. It’ll be something the remember forever and I love that for them! Also – huge kudos to Matthew for delivering the best alter kiss I’ve seen in a long time and at the perfect angle for the shot!
Family formals were of course completed and we had to get a few more portraits now that Matthew had a ring on his finger too. Then after a quick realization that the marriage certificate needed to be located and signed, it was off to dinner! Fremont was packed with all the Saturday river traffic and they even had a few guests arrive by boat. Matthew and Madelyn listened to some wonderful speeches by their people, cut their beautiful – and delicious – wedding cake, snuck out with me for sunset portraits on the docks, and then danced the night away with all their friends.
Matthew and Madelyn, I hope your first few days of married life has been wonderful and you are getting used to the extra weight on your left hands. I so enjoyed being a part of your day!
One more thing….
Shout out to the other vendors and people who made the day wonderful! The venue Fremont River Deck, the caterer The Hotel Fremont, the Baker Francy Sweets, the DJ Dunn Entertainment, Grandma Linda and Grandpa Wayne for having a beautiful flower garden to supply the bouquets, hair and makeup ladies who did a wonderful job, the “church ladies” who took care of desserts, and of course Madelyn and Matthew’s parents for raising these two wonderful people and all the other things you did to make the day perfect.
