Best of Weddings 2022 – Details

My favorite details shots from 2022 weddings with Rachel Jensen Photography.

You may be curious as to what are considered detail shots. I don’t know if there’s a technical definition but here’s mine. Any image that has no living person or animal as the center of attention is a detail. It might be a permanent piece of the venue, it might be a tiny little something from your decor. In my mind, I break them up into three categories: bridal details, ceremony details, and reception details.

Many of my brides don’t put a ton of importance on their bridal detail shots and that’s okay. The reason I like to shoot them (and this is the things like dress, shoes, rings, florals, invites, etc.) is because it’s a great way to start the day. Those details are typically a good representation of the style and color scheme of the day so it lets me get into that groove for the rest of the photos. They also help your album and your blog post be more visually interesting.

The other two categories which are fairly self explanatory are things I don’t set up the shot for. I might move little things around to some extent, but it’s mostly for the memories. We all hear it constantly – wedding days go by so fast! As the bride you put a whole bunch of time into planning your decorations and how everything will look. Then on the actual day you might not even have a chance to take it all in. These shots give you the chance to see it and remember how beautiful it was!

P.S. – If you’re a bride-to-be and something here catches your eye, I’m happy to let you know any info I have on it. I can let you know who the florist was, maybe the printer, certainly the venue. Don’t be afraid to ask!
