When April and Dan said they were hoping to have their engagement session somewhere around their hometown of Fort Atkinson I was like YESSS!!! For some reason I have always loved that little town. It was the destination of a fun high school road trip to the Fireside Dinner Theatre with my bestie and where I ran one of the hottest half marathons I’ve ever run (like in the 90’s).
Sunday was not 90 degrees. But for December, 30 wasn’t too bad. There was no wind and the sun was even peeking out! Pretty much a perfect day for a winter engagement session. I’ve never shot there though so thank you google maps satellite. That let me know what parks on the river were open with the best potential for good light. We met at Lorman Bicentennial Park and it was a great choice!
April and Dan pulled up with friend Megan and their adorable puppy Zoey in tow. These two are so happy and bubbly, ready for whatever happens. We strolled around the park chatting about the struggles of the year. April works at a daycare/preschool so the year has been crazy for her. Now add planning a wedding into the mix and this girl has a full plate!
Then we moved on to Dorothy Carnes Park to get some out in nature. The prairie grass patch there gave off the perfect glow and let Zoey stretch her legs a bit. After two hours in the cold it was time to call it quits so we could all warm up. So we brought out the bubbly, Dan gave it a good shake and we ended the night with spraying some suds.
I cannot wait to see them again at their wedding in September!
