Your senior photos are not just quick headshots, it’s an experience!
When you book your senior session with me, you should expect to have a fun experience that flows smoothly from start to finish! This is my 7th year as a senior photographer and although business is ever evolving, I have a pretty good system in place.
Not sure when you need to get your session booked? Class of 2023 – the sooner the better. We only have about a 4 month window here in lovely Wisco and it fills up FAST!
First things first – you have some decisions to make. I am a natural light photographer. This means I shoot outdoors with very little lighting equipment, mostly none. I will do the occasional indoor shoot, especially for sports in the gym, but that’s not my norm. Do you want photos that are all outdoors or do you prefer to go to a photographer with a studio set up? It’s understandable if you want a studio and your reasons are yours alone. BUT – if you want to be outside and have space to move and be creative, I could be your girl.
Next you have to decide if you like my style. My goal for all my images are clean, bright and true to life color. I look for light first, background is secondary. If you want the dark and moody style, that’s not me. So let’s say you’ve decided you like the images you’ve seen from me. Here’s what to do next:
I have 3 packages to choose from. Visit my website (www.racheljensenphotography.com) and check out the seniors section. Packages are all listed there, but if you want a more comprehensive price guide I have a pdf I can email to you. There are A LOT more details in there!
Then the fun stuff!
Pick your package and we find a date that works! The sooner the better so if weather makes us reschedule we have some leeway. I can start session as early as May, and I will shoot as late into the fall as I can, but remember you have yearbook deadlines. Also, I have a bunch of weddings in the fall so September and October are going to be really tight. I schedule in the evenings Sundays through Fridays. The evening hours are our best chance for glow like this! If it just doesn’t work I will do weekend mornings when I can get my kids schedule worked out with it.
As soon as your down payment is received I mail you your Senior Experience magazine. This is the go to guide for all your planning! I have created this guide packed with 40+ pages of information on picking your location, planning your wardrobe, what happens after the session and everything in between! I also send a Parent Handbook for all the questions that come up along the way.
A month before your session you get an email with a questionnaire to fill out. The more thorough you are with your answers, the better I can plan and the more creative I can be when thinking about ways to make your session personal and unique. After you’ve completed that we nail down the first location and the wardrobe options.
Then we have your session! Whether it’s a short half hour session or the full 90 minute, we have fun! The last thing I want is for your session to be boring or worse, stressful. That’s why we have all the steps leading up to it. We shoot, we joke, I live vicariously through all the great things my seniors have going on in life. I take a ton of photos and I do it pretty fast. You are welcome to bring a parent or friends to your session too.
After your session…
After your session, I try get a sneak peek up on Instagram and FB within 24 hours. Then within 1 week I send you a proof gallery. These are all the photos that I think you may like. All I do to these is get them to the right exposure and crop. You choose the ones you want in your final gallery. You have 1 week to make your selections! How to do that is all in the magazine and the parent handbook.
Once you get your final gallery I design your album which is included in your session. I’ll bring some samples to your session so you can see what to expect in material and pages. You’ll get yet another email with a link to view and approve the album design. Those take a while to get printed. Who would have ever thought we’d be in a paper shortage!
If you had a Simple or Extended Session, then that wraps it up. BUT, if you have a Complete Package, you get to pick when to have your additional mini session. Those are awesome for fall photos (since the colors haven’t turned yet when I’m done with regular sessions), or winter snowy sessions!
