A very beautiful – and very hot – wedding for Sofie and Evan at the gorgeous and blessedly air conditioned Pedretti’s Party Barn in Viroqua, WI.
I don’t get to travel far too often for weddings but I’m sure glad I did for Sofie and Evan. When the scenery on the drive west changed from our gentle rolling patches amid flat fields to only hills and valleys I knew I was getting close.
Walking into the venue was exciting. Not just because it had air conditioning – it was about 85 out that day and humid – but because it was gorgeous! The decor was navy and sage with gold touches and the ceremony site overlooking the vineyards was amazing. Sofie’s girls were hard at work putting the finishing touches on signs and decorations.
Details were organized and simple in the on site Air BNB. When Sofie got in her dress the bridesmaids were gushing over how beautiful she looked. Then it was time to head out into the great outdoors so Sofie could see her groom! Evan was looking dapper in his navy suit with coppery tie.
Time to get Sofie and Evan married!
There’s no talking about this day without acknowledging the heat. Weather history says 85 but on top of that hill in the direct sun it had to hit 90. We kept preceremony portraits shorter than planned to avoid melting. With sweat beading on everyone’s brows, Sofie and Evan said their vows and made their commitments to each other. By the time we were done with familly formals following the ceremony every was ready to head into the barn and cool off a bit.
The reception was great. Dad’s speech to wecome everyone was so sweet. The first dance was fun and got some hoots and hollers from the crowd too. We went out for a few more silly bridal party shots a little later. I loved doing sunset photos here and the blue hour ones too. I’ve started bringing my flash with me for more portrait time and I’m loving it for sunset. It takes a little more time but the skies are so much more vibrant this way as opposed to attempting to bring them back in edits.
Now that’s a party!
The party was going hard when I packed up my gear. Evan was kneeling and the packed dance floor was going wild as the crescendo of Taylor Swift’s “Love Story” hit. I hope the rest of the night continued that way for a long time! As for me, I grabbed another brownie bite and a 5-horu energy, brought up my liked songs playlist, and hauled myself on down the road.
Were you a guest?
If you were a guest at this wedding, or in the wedding party, and forgot to grab a card or snap the QR code, you can still request your guest gallery here! Once I deliver all the photos to the bride and groom, I’ll send you a link to the guest gallery. It will include the parts of the day guests were present and the blog photos. It’ll be a few weeks, but worth the wait!
