Sara and Brandan’s rainy backyard wedding just across the border.

Let’s just get the elephant out of the room right away. This was a rainy wedding day. It rained All. Day. Long. But in the end, they’re married. And we still got some pretty great photos:)

Sara’s dad lives just a bit down the road from the Four Seasons Resort which is up on Wisconsin-Michigan border. The wedding was at his house but the girls got ready at the hotel. The staircase in the lobby there is stunning, almost as much as Sara was in her dress. The combo made for a pretty amazing bridal portrait if I do say so myself. Off to the backyard venue to see her dad who was just awesome. If I had my way, all Father of the Brides would be like Glen!

Rain on your wedding day is good luck…

The U.P. has beautiful woods and rivers and old roads. You know what they don’t have? Cell service. Which meant no reliable radar. We stalled the ceremony just a bit, waiting for a lighter mist to replace the drops coming down. Patience paid off and in front of their family and friends sitting under the tents, Sara and Brandan said “I do”.

Hats off to this wedding party! It wasn’t misting anymore, it was flat out raining. They were still willing to hike it down the road to the bridge. We did bridal party and bride and groom portraits in the shortest amount of time ever. Personally, I love these photos just as much as any sunny day. The one lane bridge was such a cool backdrop for them and most of the cars we held up were happy to oblige.

Then it was dancing in the rain for the rest of the night and it was a blast. Best Father/Daughter I’ve seen to date! Glen told me later, “I don’t know how to dance so I decided we’re just gonna give ‘er!” Give ‘er they did. And the frosted brownies were incredible! Best rainy day wedding I’ve shot so far!
