Nicole and Joseph – Wedding

Nicole and Joseph were married at The Ballroom at The Reserve in Neenah on a chilly December day.

Nicole and Joseph chose to get married at a time they – or rather she – could potentially have some snow. People often comment on how “risky” it is to have a December wedding in Wisconsin. I had never shot one before last weekend and I gotta say, it was not a big deal. When you plan a wedding in December it’s obviously going to be inside. Weather is only a factor if there is a bad storm. Those can happen any time of year. And when you choose a venue with as much historic elegance as The Ballroom at The Reserve, you wouldn’t want to leave it anyway!

When I stepped out of the elevator to the Ballroom I was so excited to look around. I love old buildings and the restoration of the hardwood floors, the dark thick moulding and the tall windows was beautiful. There were two large separate rooms full of windows. One was ceremony and dinner space, one was cocktail hour and dance floor. The place was awesome.

Wedding time…

The girls were all getting ready down in the bridal suite while the guys were doing final touches upstairs. Nicole was ready to get in to her beautiful gown and Joseph was looking very dapper in his suit. Soon it was time for the ceremony. With Nicole’s brother officiating and a family only wedding party, it was a very sweet and intimate ceremony. The soloist was a friend of Nicole’s and I was completely blown away with how gorgeous her voice was.

A lovely catered meal filled everyone’s tummies before heading into the dance floor. There were a few a ready to bust a move but a lot of guests were happy to just chat and enjoy each other’s company. After some very sweet special dances the party was underway.

Nicole and Joseph were troopers when it came time to get a few portraits with the lit trees outside. It was drizzling and sleeting, a classic wintry mix for a winter night. We didn’t stay out long because of the cold but it was so worth it!

Congratulations Nicole and Joseph! You had a beautiful day for a beautiful wedding!
