Jamie and Tyler – Wedding – Poplar Creek

Jamie and Tyler had a hot and windy October wedding at Poplar Creek Barn in Oshkosh, WI.

I know I write way too often about the weather when I do a wedding post. I can’t help it. It’s the farmer upbringing. Discussing it though for Jamie and Tyler is warranted. We are in Wisconsin. It is October. The temperature at ceremony time for this outdoor wedding was over eighty degrees. That’s right. 8-0 plus. And it was windy. Okay I’ll move on.

Poplar Creek is an event barn I had yet to have the honor of photographing. It is quite pretty on the outside but you never know what you’re going to find when you walk in. This one is a beaut Clark! The long space with the large arched roof lines brings all the attention to the couple’s head table. Jamie’s choices in decorations were gorgeous and the details made the day. They have real wooden tables for dinner and when they were pushed together in large rectangles it added an elegance that you just don’t get in most rustic spaces. Jamie and Tyler love to visit the National Parks our country has to offer and each table was named after one.

I found our lovely bride to be in the ground floor bridal suite. The girsl were finishing up hair and make up when I arrived. One of the movely bridesmaids helped me take the dress outside and place it on the dress form. She also got in touch with the boys to make sure they weren’t going to drive up on spot it. Jamie chose a layered lace dress that fit the vibe of her day perfectly. The flowers by Premier Petals were stunning. A vivd pop of color for a fall day.

Jamie and Tyler went the traditional route and did not see each other before the ceremony. Jamie did want to do a first look with her dad. It was the sweetest daddy daughter moment! I must turning into an old softy because I even had a few tears to wipe!

Let’s get Jamie and Tyler married!

Time for the ceremony! Since they grew up going to separate churches they had two officiants at this wedding. Pastor Andy was the main guy and did a great job working in some jokes about the car alarm that was going off in the parking lot for quite a bit of the ceremony. The owner of Poplar Creek jumped in and handled that situation with class I might say. This ceremony was so personal to Jamie and Tyler. They even brought in a bit of their shared love of all things western and branded a Bible to be theirs together.

After a little time to hang out with the bridal party and take photos, then have a some of just Jamie and Tyler (oh and Tecovah, the star of the show) it was time for dinner. Eden’s Meat Market catered a great meal that everyone loved. The bar was in full swing and the folks working there were doing a great job keeping everyone hydrated on a hot day. Speeches were just the right amount of sweet and funny and ended just in time for us to run and do some sunset photos.

Party Hardy Everybody!

When it was time to kick the party off the DJ called all the bridal party to the dance floor. They had to do a little search game before the first dances. I will admit I don’t always love when there’s some kind of game brought into a night BUT this was done just right. The bridal party had a blast and it got everyone’s attention so when the next event happened they were ready. Jamie and Tyler’s first dance was great! Just a couple little moves to keep it interesting. A few more special dances and the floor was open! It was a great time at Poplar Creek and I’m pretty sure I can speak for everyone on that!

Were you a guest?

If you were a guest at this wedding, or in the wedding party, you can request your guest gallery here! Once I deliver all the photos to the bride and groom, (it will take 4 to 6 weeks) I’ll send you a link to the guest gallery. It will include the parts of the day guests were present and the blog photos. It’ll be a few weeks, but worth the wait!
