Josephine and Gunner – Wedding – Fremont Riverdeck

Josephine and Gunner had a wedding full of joy, excitement, and a whole slew of people who were ready to celebrate with them.

What a day for Josephine and Gunner! The November air was crisp but it was dry, the Riverdeck was chilly but the wind calmed. Traffic on the Wolf was non existent during the very short ceremony time. And the party – uff! There were some people ready to live it up that night and probably pop some ibuprofen in the morning. This was a great way to end my wedding season and it couldn’t have gone better.

Now for the rundown of the day. You could look back through past blog posts and verify that I don’t use the word “joy” all that often. Not that it wouldn’t be fitting but I feel like it’s overused. So many photographers declare they are “for the joyful bride”, every self help guru says you need to “find your joy”, and Christmas cards just plaster the word anywhere to fill negative space. But once in awhile, a very rare while, it is just the best word for a situation. That’s the moment I walked into Saturday morning when the girls were getting ready for Josephine’s wedding. And I know most say Josie but I love the whole name so I’m typing it out the long way! This bride in her white sweatsuit and her hair still down in an Air BNB full of her best girls was the picture of joy. It seeped from her very soul.

Let the day begin!

When she showed me where the dress was and all the little details she looked at it with so much happiness and excitement that I could feel it in the space. She was ready to put that dress on, walk down that aisle, and commit her whole life to Gunner. Her mom and stepmom helped her get the buttons all done up and each took charge of a shoe when it was time to literally tie those things on. Then dad got to come up the stairs to the little living room and see his radiant daughter. There were tears. I love seeing dad’s cry! Then she did a first look with her bridesmaids since only her sisters had even seen the dress and most of them were crying. Then Grandpa got to see her and he cried!

Before long it was off to the ceremony. There may have been a slight delay due to dessert retrieval but only a few minutes! Gunner and his group of guys were all looking sharp in their cream suits and brown accents. And Gunner was so ready to see his bride. I don’t think he could have possibly been prepared for how gorgeous she looked walking down that aisle. Grandpa Mark kept the ceremony short and sweet, much to the delight of the girls in their strapless dresses. And for a fun surprise the rings were delivered by the cutest little bear!

I know, it’s getting long!

Holy crud I gotta wrap this up! So family formals were great because the list was good, the lighting was perfect, and we did them outside on a cold day so only the people who were supposed to be there hung around for it. That’s a real good thing. Iykyk. Then the wedding party was awesome in doing all their photos. The guys even threw in some ideas which is so refreshing! We did hurry through theirs a bit because I knew Josephine wanted a ton of just her and Gunner and seeing as it was November 1st, teh sun was a sinkin’! I think we were successful though and now they have their whole life to take a ton more photos and make a ton more memories together!

Okay, real quick. Dinner – super awesome. Salmon was delicious. Speeches – all good, just enough nostalgia and sweetness without losing people or getting cringy. Dance – this group packed that dance floor. That’s a 35mm dance floor in my brain. Groomsmen who claimed they would not be busting any moves were out there by song 3. Gunner and Josephine were out there a fairly good amount but they also spent a lot of time chatting with their guests and soaking in the love of everyone around them.

This was a great wedding. I hope that Josephine and Gunner look back on this day with so much happiness for the rest of their lives and they always look at each other the way they did on November 1, 2025.
