Jo and Gunner – Engagement

Jo and Gunner headed out to the lake for their engagement session on a chilly Sunday morning.

It’s a completely different look outside as I type this than it was just three days ago. The snow covered fields and lake that Jo and Gunner had for their engagement session are much more bare and muddy. That’s Wisconsin February for ya!

We trudged through the snow onto the frozen and snow covered Grenlie Lake at 7 in the morning. Gotta love those cloudy days! The pureness of the snow and the bareness of the trees left all the focus to be directed at them in those shots. There was no dawdling around with the chill sinking in so we jumped right to it. It doesn’t take some epic location to have great photos!

The best is when we’d do kissing shots. Jo’s giggle was the cutest thing and I oh my gosh I hope she has a teeny bit of that shyness still on wedding day. Just look at that smile! We moved over to the dam side of the lake (beaver dam that is) and made use of the little wooden bridge. I think those are my favorites. They fit together so well just cuddled up in the middle of nature.

Jo and Gunner tolerated the cold and me for a little bit longer. We made a quick stop on a path in the pines. The colors on those were awesome! I convinced them to do one more set in the ditch. The grassy field in the background was just too pretty not too. This might be the first engagement session I shot in the hour and a half I always claim it to be. And it was perfect! I think we got everything we need and now I can’t wait for their wedding this fall!
